International Workshop Festival

The International Workshop Festival brings together performers and performance makers from around the world to the UK to share skills, create work, and celebrate the very best of world theatre and dance.

We are cultural brokers, interventionists, re-inventors and border-crossers.

At the heart of our activity is the annual International Workshop Festival. Three weeks packed with workshops, demonstrations, performances and networking; a unique environment in which performance makers can come together to transform themselves, each other and the work they create. Highlights of recent festivals have included Kwoto, a group of young dancers from the Displaced Peoples Camps of Khartoum; Falos & Stercus, the Brazilian fetish circus, and the extraordinary Annie Sprinkle and Elizabeth Stephens from the USA challenging the boundaries of erotic performance; from Finland, the fire performance collective Flamma; and from Australia Snuff Puppets with the gigantic street puppets. We also run a year round programme of work to showcase and support emerging performance work. This includes work developed from workshops in the Festival and work inspired from the Festival or coming out of collaborations nurtured by the Festival.
